​Jōryū Budo is a modern martial art system created by Adam Hosie Shihan. Rooted in traditional principles yet refined through scientific understanding and real-world functionality, Jōryū Budo is a distilled method for unlocking the essence of Aiki and skills of Bujutsu across any martial style.

Rather than following a fixed style or aesthetic, Jōryū Budo acts as a bridging system—designed to enhance your existing art. It teaches the universal principles behind posture, movement, power generation, and the weaknesses of the human body integrating them into spontaneous technique. Jōryū Budo reveals how to combine five types of Aiki—Body, Equilibrium, Rotary, Zero-Point with the five martial principle groups—Atemi (strikes), Kansetsu (joint manipulation), Nage (throws), Shime(constrictions), Kyusho (weak point attacks) — to affect the opponent’s body across multiple systems simultaneously: structural, neurological, circulatory, respiratory, and organ. This multi-system impact leads to a decisive shift in control, enabling powerful martial efficacy.​

Adam Hosie Shihan is the founder of Jōryū Budo. Known for his clear, pragmatic teaching style and refusal to mystify internal arts, he has developed a unique method for making Aiki truly learnable—by breaking it down into tangible, reproducible skills.

He teaches internationally and has shared his method with practitioners of Aikido, Judo, Karate, Daito Ryu, and other traditional and modern arts. His approach has been praised by senior martial artists for its clarity, depth, and effectiveness.
